Microneedling in Daventry:
What It Treats, How Many Sessions You'll Need and What to Expect
Microneedling is one of the most popular treatments at Claws, and it's the one clients ask the most questions about before booking. Here's what it treats, how many sessions most people need, and what the appointment and recovery are really like.
What is microneedling?
Microneedling uses a device with very fine needles to make tiny channels in the skin. Your skin responds by repairing itself and producing fresh collagen and elastin, which gradually improves its texture, firmness and tone. The channels also help serums absorb more deeply.
What does microneedling treat?
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Acne scarring and pitted skin
- Enlarged pores
- Uneven texture and tone
- Mild pigmentation
- Skin that has lost its firmness

Why booking a course gives the best results
After a single session you’ll notice your skin looks brighter and feels smoother, but the bigger changes come from collagen, and your skin takes around four to six weeks to build new collagen after each treatment. Each session in a course builds on the collagen made by the one before. That gradual layering is what softens lines, smooths scarring and firms the skin in a way that lasts.
When there are long gaps between sessions, or only one session, the skin doesn’t get the chance to build on that progress. That’s why clients who complete a course see much more noticeable and longer-lasting results. Booking your sessions together also keeps the timing right, so you aren’t waiting for an appointment when your skin is ready for the next one. Ask us about our course packages when you book.
How many microneedling sessions will you need?
Most people see the best results from a course of three to six sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart. You'll notice a glow after the first treatment, but the real improvement builds over the following months as new collagen forms. Deeper scarring usually needs more sessions than fine lines.
What to expect on the day
We apply numbing cream first, so most clients find it comfortable and describe a light scratching feeling. The treatment takes around 30 to 45 minutes. Afterwards your skin will look pink, a bit like mild sunburn, which usually settles within 24 to 48 hours.
Microneedling aftercare
- Avoid make-up for 24 hours.
- Skip the gym, saunas and swimming for 48 hours.
- Wear a high SPF every day.
- Leave out retinol and exfoliating acids for a few days.
Summary
Microneedling triggers your skin's own repair process to improve fine lines, scarring, pores and texture. A course of three to six sessions gives the best results, and the downtime is usually just a day or two of pinkness.
